light_spam3.jpgI was pleasantly surprised this morning at how little spam I had this morning in my primary email box. Almost to the point that I thought something was wrong with my email server… But a few minutes later I saw this on Drudge.

Quake cuts off much of Asia Internet

Internet and phone services have been disrupted across much of Asia after an earthquake damaged undersea cables, leaving one of the world’s most tech-savvy regions in a virtual blackout.

From frustrated traders seeking in vain for stock quotes to anxious newshounds accustomed to round-the-clock updates on world events, millions of people from China to Japan to Australia were believed to have been affected.

This was perhaps the reason. Most spam comes from Asia… Korea, China, Indonesia, perhaps even Taiwan. There were only 291 in my Junk-Email box and 10 made it through to my inbox. Usually it is 8-10x that much.

We need more non-devastating, undersea-internet-cable-breaking earthquakes in that region!!!
